Message: the f-15's radar is still one of the best. The F-14 however could lock on to 20 something targets and fire like 6 to 8 aim-54 phoenix missiles at all targets and then just forget about them and return to base.

Subject: replacment for F-15
Name: trigun5
Message: never will go through. but I suspect f-15's will still be around for another 10 to 20 years before they phase them out. for the simple fact that it will take them that long to get as many squadrons as the f-15's do. f-16's will be phased out by the JSF but however it won't happen for another 10 to20 years. It takes money and it will take alot of money to phase them out fast.

Subject: USA has the wrost Air force in the world
Name: trigun5
Message: Just so you know, I have spoken with some Australian Air Force guys and they have told me that they can barely defend them selves. They lose probably about a 2 squadrons of aircraft a year. Mainly because their pilots are young and stupid. Their officer program is so messed up that experienced officers set behind a desk and leave the flying up to younger more inexperienced officers. The one guy I talked to said that on one occasion, there was a very young pilot flying a single seated old f-18 hornet and the guy fell asleep or passed out while flying. even through repeated radio hails where another aircraft was flying wingman yelling at him and he still didn't wake up. The other aircraft had to return to base because of fuel. The aircraft continued flifht until it ran out of fuel and disappeared forever. They never found the aircraft. It is possible that it landed in the ocean but who knows. The guy I talked to also said that most of the crashes that they have are never recovered because of australia immense landmass. I have never heard of a pilot crashing because of stuff like that.

Subject: What aircraft would you trust with your life?
Name: trigun5
Message: Yeah it was actually an israeli jet that did it. That is pretty amazing. I work on 15's and sometimes I even have doubts about how they fly. But most of the time it comes down to who the operator is.
